Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Harry Kane is close to returning to the starting lineup after completing a full week of training.
The England captain’s recovery comes at an important moment for Bayern as they prepare for a crucial Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen. However, while Kane’s return offers a boost, the squad is currently dealing with several injury concerns following their recent European match.
Kane Nearing Return After Injury Layoff
Kane’s availability represents a significant lift for Bayern ahead of their weekend encounter with Leverkusen. The striker has been sidelined recently but has now returned to full training without complications.
Despite his absence, Bayern have continued to perform strongly in attack, scoring ten goals across the two matches he missed. Even so, Kane’s presence remains vital to the team’s attacking structure, especially as other influential players are currently unavailable due to injuries.
During his pre-match press conference, Kompany explained that the final call on Kane’s involvement would depend on the striker’s own readiness.
“If Harry gives the signal that he can play, then he will,” the Bayern coach said.
Bayern Hit by Injury Concerns
While Kane edges closer to a comeback, Bayern are currently dealing with multiple injury setbacks involving several key players.
Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Jonas Urbig all picked up injuries in their previous match.
Kompany attempted to reassure supporters by stressing that the injuries are not expected to keep the players out for an extended period. However, he acknowledged that it remains frustrating for players who want to contribute during an important stage of the season.
“You can be as professional as you want, but sometimes the body does not respond the way you expect,” Kompany explained.
Goalkeeper Urbig has been ruled out for now after suffering a concussion, while Manuel Neuer continues his recovery from a calf problem. Meanwhile, Hiroki Ito is sidelined with a torn muscle fibre.
With both Urbig and Neuer unavailable, experienced backup goalkeeper Sven Ulreich is expected to make his first appearance of the season.

Bayern face an important test when they travel to Leverkusen in one of the most anticipated matches of the Bundesliga season.
Ulreich is likely to remain in goal for the upcoming fixture and could also feature in Bayern’s second-leg clash against Atalanta if Urbig has not fully recovered in time.
Kompany and his staff are carefully managing the squad as they approach the upcoming international break, which will provide valuable recovery time for several injured players.
The medical team is hopeful that Musiala could return to training early next week, while Davies may benefit from the extended break in fixtures. The club is also targeting the international pause as the ideal period for Neuer to regain full fitness ahead of a demanding run of matches scheduled for April.
