Report: Liverpool Have Now Identified “Incredible” Player as Ideal Alexander Isak Alternative

‎Liverpool are reportedly considering an “incredible” striker as a possible alternative to Alexander Isak in their ongoing search for a new forward.

‎The Reds suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Crystal Palace in Sunday’s Community Shield, following a 2-2 draw at Wembley. Hugo Ekitike impressed by opening the scoring, but it is evident that the squad still requires another striker before the summer transfer window closes, particularly after Darwin Nunez’s departure.

‎Isak has long been viewed as the Premier League champions’ top target, and Newcastle United have already rejected one bid for the Swedish star. However, talks have stalled recently, with Newcastle unwilling to sell until they complete their own signings, forcing Liverpool to consider other options.

‎Caught Offside reports that Brentford’s Yoane Wissa is now attracting serious interest from Liverpool, while Newcastle are also keen on the 28-year-old.

‎The Merseysiders are said to be “keeping a watchful eye on developments” and “exploring several attacking reinforcements” this month.

‎Is Wissa an Ideal Alternative to Isak for Liverpool?

‎Wissa is undoubtedly a top-quality player, netting 19 goals in the Premier League last season and earning praise from former manager Thomas Frank for his impressive partnership with Bryan Mbeumo.

‎“That’s an incredible achievement from the two of them. All praise due the two of them for the hard work, how much they push, and then of course to my staff, and then I think a little bit to the way we play.”

‎At 28, Wissa would not be a long-term solution for Liverpool, and with Brentford demanding a hefty fee, pursuing him could prove to be a risky move.

‎The Reds should ultimately focus their efforts on securing Isak this summer, in the hope that Newcastle’s position changes once they recruit one or two strikers as replacements.

‎Should the 25-year-old remain out of reach, it will still be crucial for Liverpool to sign a striker from elsewhere, as their attacking depth has been significantly reduced following the departures of Nunez and Luis Diaz, along with the heartbreaking loss of Diogo Jota.
