Eddie Howe acknowledged over the weekend that it has been a challenging summer for Newcastle. On Sunday, he also confirmed that Isak would not be travelling with the squad to Asia, having remained in England as the team began their pre-season tour.
“It’s business as usual for the players,” Howe said in a press conference. “Naturally, we’re going to miss a player of Alex’s quality and the group are going to feel that.
“There’s no denying that. I can’t sit here and claim that they won’t. But they’re a very a professional group of players and they’re doing brilliantly as far as I can see in terms of managing the situation.”
Newcastle remains firm in its desire to retain its top talents, with Alexander Isak regarded as a key figure in their plans. However, if the player continues to push for a move, the club may eventually have little choice but to reconsider its position.
In the meantime, the Magpies are actively exploring attacking reinforcements. They are pursuing Yoane Wissa from Brentford and are also believed to have held discussions with RB Leipzig regarding Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko.

Interest in Gueye extends beyond England, with Manchester United, Brentford, and Burnley also reportedly keeping tabs on him. However, securing a work permit for a player of his age could present a challenge.
While Gueye may be a promising prospect, the club currently has more pressing concerns. In addition to pursuing Alexander Isak, Liverpool must also strengthen their defensive depth, particularly at centre-back.
