Liverpool Target Alexander Isak and Premier League Players Lead Tributes to Diogo Jota

Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota lost his life in a fatal car accident in Spain during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Premier League forwards Alexander Isak of Newcastle United and Erling Haaland of Manchester City are among those who have paid tribute to Jota after the tragic news of his passing. The 28-year-old died alongside his brother, Andre Silva, in a crash that occurred in Spain.

Zamora’s provincial council confirmed that firefighters were dispatched to the A52, known locally as the Palacios de Sanabria, after the vehicle the pair were in caught fire. In response to the heartbreaking news, Liverpool FC issued an official statement: “Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

“The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.

“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.”

Jota’s passing has hit the Premier League hard with a number of rival players sending their condolences to the Portuguese star’s family. Posting on Instagram, Isak wrote: “Sad day for the football world.

“Rest in peace Diogo and Andre.” Haaland added: “RIP Diogo, way too early.”

Manchester United captain and Jota’s international teammate Bruno Fernandes posted a moving tribute on his Instagram, writing: “Friend, colleague and companion of a thousand battles. It’s hard to understand how can someone leave so soon.

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice wrote: “So, so sad. Heartbreaking!

“RIP to Diogo and his brother Andre. Sending love and condolences to his family.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s club captain Reece James simply wrote: “Heartbreaking.”
