‘No Sign of a New Deal’ – David Ornstein Issues Liverpool Exit Update as Star with 147 Appearances Faces Potential Departure

Liverpool could be set to part ways with one of their brightest young prospects this summer.
Arne Slot’s overhaul at Anfield is in full swing, having already brought in signings worth over £150 million. However, the summer has also seen a number of notable departures. Long-serving figures like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhín Kelleher, and Nat Phillips have all secured moves away ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Academy graduate Jarell Quansah is now expected to follow suit. The young centre-back has reportedly passed a medical with Bayer Leverkusen and is on the verge of completing a £35 million switch. He is set to join Erik ten Hag’s title-challenging side and could be officially unveiled as a Leverkusen player shortly.
It’s been a memorable summer for Quansah, who helped England win the Under-21 European Championship—adding to the Under-19 version he lifted three years ago.
He partnered Harvey Elliott in the side, with the Liverpool midfielder enjoying a standout campaign. Elliott scored five goals in six games, including a brace in the semi-final against the Netherlands and the opening goal in the final versus Germany.
Elliott’s impressive showing has drawn widespread media praise and fuelled speculation about his future, particularly after struggling for consistent first-team action at Liverpool last season.
David Ornstein Shares Harvey Elliott Transfer Prediction
Well-informed transfer expert David Ornstein anticipates that Harvey Elliott could follow Jarell Quansah in leaving Anfield this summer, suggesting that Liverpool are likely to sanction the 22-year-old’s sale for a fee in the region of £40m to £50m, with strong interest coming from Wolves and Brighton.
In a report from The Athletic, Ornstein explains: “It is not surprising, then, that Elliott is attracting significant interest from elsewhere.
“Quansah’s £30m price tag is considered a useful benchmark when it comes to the 22-year-old’s valuation, as is the fact Borussia Dortmund have signed Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham for £32m.”

How Much is Harvey Elliott Likely to Cost?
Harvey Elliott made only two starts in the league last season. Although he featured 28 times in all competitions, including 18 Premier League appearances, 16 of those came from the bench, often with less than 20 minutes to make an impact.
Nonetheless, despite playing a limited role during the campaign, David Ornstein believes Elliott’s value surpasses that of both Jobe Bellingham and Jarell Quansah, thanks to the quality of his performances under Lee Carsley and the experience he gained in the first team during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure.
He added: “Liverpool rate him at a steeper price than Quansah and Bellingham because of his contribution at the highest level over a longer period. His stock is particularly elevated at present given the U21 displays.”
Elliott remains under contract at Liverpool until 2027, but he is not expected to significantly add to his current total of 147 appearances for the club. According to Ornstein, there are no indications of a contract extension, and the player is said to be seeking consistent first-team football next season.
He is thought to favour a move to a club competing in Europe, which would likely eliminate Brighton and Wolves from contention, while potentially making a switch to a side like Newcastle United—previously linked with him—a more viable option.
