Liverpool Next Move as Decisions Made on Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong Transfers

Liverpool are actively working in the transfer market as they aim to strengthen Arne Slot’s squad ahead of the new season.
Following successful moves for Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez, Liverpool have been given a fresh indication of who they should pursue next. The Reds are continuing to enhance their squad, having brought in Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, and are now targeting two additional signings that could collectively cost up to £171 million.
Operating from a position of strength, Arne Slot and his team are taking a more aggressive approach this summer, in contrast to their minimal activity last year when the Dutchman succeeded Jurgen Klopp.
On Friday evening, Liverpool submitted a £113 million offer for Wirtz, although that figure still falls short of Bayer Leverkusen’s £126 million asking price.
Speculation surrounding Milos Kerkez’s future intensified after he withdrew from Hungary’s national team for upcoming fixtures. A statement released attributed his departure to “private reasons,” further fuelling rumours of a potential £45 million move to Anfield.
If sporting director Richard Hughes can finalise deals for Wirtz and Kerkez to join Frimpong, Liverpool could unveil three new signings before pre-season training begins.
Meanwhile, supporters have begun voicing their opinions on who the club should look to sign in the coming months.
When fans were asked who Liverpool should sign next, a significant 34 per cent of those polled on social media backed Alexander Isak. The Newcastle United striker, currently in discussions over a new contract at St James’ Park, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout forwards.

A front three featuring Isak, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah would undoubtedly pose a major threat to the rest of the league, potentially giving Liverpool a strong chance of defending their title.
Other options were also raised, with supporters divided over Hugo Ekitike and Julian Alvarez, who received 19 per cent and 17 per cent of the vote respectively. Both players are expected to come at a lower cost compared to the substantial fee Isak would demand.
Meanwhile, there was minimal backing for Viktor Gyokeres, a player linked with Manchester United and Arsenal. Only four per cent of those polled felt the Swedish striker was worth pursuing.
Around 20 per cent of respondents believed Liverpool should instead focus on strengthening their defence, highlighting Ajax’s Jorrel Hato as a key target. The 19-year-old was seen at Anfield in January, though that visit was reportedly to watch his compatriots in action.
Hato is considered a potential long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk. His versatility also adds appeal, as he has experience playing in midfield and at left-back for the Netherlands.
Only six per cent of readers believe Liverpool should target Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller next, likely due to the club already having strong options in that role with Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo.
