Report: When Florian Wirtz Will Join Up With Liverpool Squad as Medical is Booked Ahead of Mega Move

Richard Hughes has been extremely active in recent days as he works to finalise most of Liverpool’s transfer dealings.
Although Hughes had a quiet start to his tenure as the Reds’ sporting director last summer, he is now making significant strides.
In the past fortnight, the former Portsmouth midfielder has been putting in considerable effort to negotiate a deal with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz.
While the process has moved slowly, there have been encouraging signs, and reports on Friday evening indicated that Liverpool’s third bid for Wirtz is close to being accepted.
The German midfielder is currently on international duty, preparing to face France in the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off on Sunday.
Despite that, as talks between Liverpool and Leverkusen continue to progress, it has come to light that a medical for Wirtz has already been arranged.
Florian Wirtz Ready for Liverpool Medical
Although an agreement between Liverpool and Leverkusen over Florian Wirtz has always seemed likely, the pace of progress has tested the patience of supporters.
Despite the delays, reports on Saturday morning suggested that Wirtz would undergo a medical after Germany’s match against France, and German publication Kolner Stadt Anzeiger has now provided further insight.
According to their information, Wirtz’s medical has already been arranged and is scheduled to take place next week.
Should the Germany international successfully complete the medical assessment, he is expected to head off on holiday before pre-season begins.
As he is not involved in any international tournament this summer, it is reported that Wirtz will link up with his Liverpool teammates in July, likely on the first official day of pre-season training.
One factor contributing to Liverpool fans’ concern over the drawn-out nature of this major signing is the presence of a looming deadline.
Owing to the Club World Cup this summer, an additional transfer window was introduced, which officially opened on June 1st.
This early registration phase will close on Tuesday, though the main transfer window will open again on June 16th.
The window will remain open until September 1st, leaving Liverpool with more than enough time to complete the Wirtz signing.
Even so, to give Arne Slot the best chance to integrate new arrivals throughout the full pre-season, there’s a clear advantage to sealing the deal for Wirtz as soon as possible.
Fortunately, it now appears that fans won’t have to wait much longer.
