Report: Liverpool Prepare Record Offer After Final Florian Wirtz Obstacle Revealed

Liverpool are aiming to strengthen their squad and are currently in talks with Bayer Leverkusen to finalize a deal for Florian Wirtz, which has the potential to break the British transfer record.
Following their Premier League triumph in Arne Slot’s debut season, Liverpool wasted no time making moves in the transfer market. Although the Reds secured the title with minimal activity in the previous window, this year they have adopted a more aggressive approach.
The club has already completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The full-back left for Real Madrid just before his contract expired, with Liverpool receiving a £10 million fee for the transfer.
Liverpool is now focused on further strengthening their squad. Talks are ongoing with Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz, with the deal potentially becoming the most expensive British transfer ever.
Additionally, Slot is seeking to reinforce his defensive options and is expected to make an offer for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, who would provide competition for Andy Robertson.
Newsnow brings you the latest updates and rumours from the transfer window surrounding Anfield.
Florian Wirtz Obstacle
Bayer Leverkusen remain confident that Florian Wirtz will join Liverpool, even after rejecting two offers, according to reports. Although the Reds’ second bid fell short of Leverkusen’s £126 million valuation, they still lead the pursuit of the talented midfielder.
Bild reports that Leverkusen’s management do not see the transfer as at risk, with the transfer fee being the sole hurdle left. The same source claims that Liverpool and Wirtz have already reached an agreement on personal terms.
One potential way forward could be a player-plus-cash deal, while another option might involve Liverpool submitting a bid structured so that it only meets Leverkusen’s asking price if certain bonuses are activated.
Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are among the players mentioned as possible components of the deal if the German club receives a player as part of the transfer.
Deco on Barca Business
Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has stated that Marcus Rashford and Luis Diaz should not anticipate any immediate transfer bids. In an interview with BBC Sport, the former Portugal international clarified that the club’s current focus is directed towards other priorities.
“We have been focusing on renewing contracts, after that, we’ll discuss players to come,” he said. “Of course, these two players, like you mentioned, they are good but have contracts in their clubs, so we won’t speak because it’s not fair. But when you decide to go to the market, for sure, we find some names. In my opinion, we don’t need to bring many players.
“When I speak with the agents of the players, everyone wants to come or stay. So this is important. The image of the club is still good. We are proud because Barcelona is still such a big club, and the way we are playing football makes players want to come.”
Wirtz Approval
Liverpool’s Fenway Sports Group (FSG) ownership have reportedly approved the possibility of a British record bid to secure Florian Wirtz. The Reds are said to be ready to offer £118 million for the German star, surpassing the fee Chelsea paid for former Liverpool target Moises Caicedo.
The club is believed to be preparing to submit their third offer in the next few days, after twice falling short of Bayer Leverkusen’s valuation.
