Viktor Gyokeres Stance on Liverpool Emerges as Barcelona Hatch Transfer Plan

Liverpool are reportedly among several Premier League clubs showing interest in Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, while Luis Diaz remains a subject of ongoing transfer speculation, with suggestions he could depart Anfield.
The Reds have just one fixture remaining in what has been a remarkable season, as they prepare to face Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm. Following their Premier League title triumph last month, a dip in form was perhaps inevitable.
However, this weekend’s encounter with Palace presents an opportunity for Liverpool to close out a brilliant campaign on a positive note. A vibrant atmosphere is anticipated at Anfield, where the Reds are set to celebrate their title win in front of their supporters after the final whistle.
Focus will soon shift to the summer transfer window. Due to the upcoming Club World Cup, the window will open early, beginning on Sunday, June 1 and closing temporarily on Tuesday, June 10. It will reopen on Monday, June 16, and run through to deadline day on Monday, September 1.
Here is a round-up of some of the latest transfer stories involving the Reds…
Viktor Gyokeres Update
According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Viktor Gyokeres holds a preference for Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal among his potential suitors. However, it is reported that any formal discussions are unlikely to begin until after the conclusion of the Portuguese Cup, in line with the wishes of both Gyokeres and Sporting.
The Swedish forward has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers in recent seasons, boasting an impressive tally of 96 goals in 101 matches since making the switch from Coventry City to Liga Portugal in July 2023.
Sporting’s top scorer has enjoyed a standout campaign in the Portuguese league this season, registering 39 goals and providing eight assists across 33 appearances. The 26-year-old has played a pivotal role under Rui Borges, helping the club secure the league title.
Although Gyokeres has a €100 million (£85.7 million) release clause in his contract, it is believed Sporting may be open to accepting a reduced fee.
Luis Diaz Claim
Spanish publication Sport has once again highlighted Barcelona’s interest in Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, with the Colombian reportedly being considered to partner Raphinha and Lamine Yamal in the Catalan club’s attack.
The report also claims that, with the reopening of Camp Nou later this year, Barcelona are regaining financial stability and believe a bid of £72 million could be sufficient to land Diaz.
This development may present Liverpool with a difficult choice, particularly if contract renewal talks with Diaz continue to stall. However, the winger has already expressed his desire to extend his stay at Anfield.
“Since the first day I arrived, I’ve always been happy, calm, enjoying the football played at this great team,” Diaz told Colombian news outlet Telemundo Deportes earlier this month.
“We’ll be talking about it [about renewing], we’ll talk about it. For me, I’d stay however many years it takes. “It also depends on the club, everything.
These are details that are worked out separately. “But I’m very calm, happy and enjoying the Premier League.”
