Luis Diaz Hints at Liverpool Future as Verdict Shared on Arne Slot Rotation

The Colombian winger has been linked with a departure from Liverpool, although he has expressed ambitions he hopes to achieve in English football.
Luis Diaz has several goals he still wants to reach in the Premier League, which suggests he may extend his stay at Liverpool.
The 28-year-old has been instrumental in Liverpool’s domestic success this season, contributing to their impressive 13-point lead at the top of the table.
Diaz has found the net 13 times across all competitions, playing both on the left wing and through the centre. His tireless work ethic and intelligent movement have made him an ideal partner for Mohamed Salah in Liverpool’s attack.
Although there was significant speculation about his future before the season began—and fresh rumours of a move have emerged recently—Diaz has revealed in an interview with Liverpool’s club media that his ambitions for the future would require him to remain at Anfield.
“Now and again, I find out about the stats when people post them on social media,” he said about currently being the fourth-highest scoring Colombian in Premier League history.
“But how nice it is to be getting close to such great fellow Colombian players like Hugo [Rodallega] and all the others.
“It’s a real pleasure for me to be right there close behind them and I realise that maybe I will catch them at some point. You could say that it’s another one of those personal targets that I have. I know that things are going well for me and I’m in decent form.
“What I want the most is to keep making history and, first and foremost, that Colombians who come over to England to play really leave their mark. That’s key for us all now – to give a positive image of our country, just like they all did.
“Now those of us here are trying to do just that. I’m very happy with that and we hope to continue doing the same things in future.”
Juan Pablo Angel currently holds the record for the most goals scored by a Colombian player, with 44. Diaz has netted 25 times for Liverpool, placing him behind Hugo Rodallega with 29 goals and Hamilton Ricard with 31.
Diaz also discussed how Slot has managed the rotation of attacking players throughout the season.
While Salah has remained a constant presence, Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez have regularly alternated in the forward positions. Liverpool’s number 7 admitted that he does not envy the tough decisions Slot faces when selecting the front line.
“He’s known just exactly how to manage the group and every single player that he has in the squad because it cannot be easy for any coach when he has two or three excellent alternatives for each position on the field to make decisions on who to play and who to leave out.
“It’s not an easy task but he’s been up to it and he’s also given confidence to every single player in his squad.”
Diaz nearly achieved Premier League and Champions League triumph in his debut season with Liverpool after joining in January but fell just short in both competitions despite winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
