“I Think You Know” – Arne Slot Makes Darwin Nunez Admission After Liverpool Miss vs Aston Villa

Arne Slot was surprisingly asked about Darwin Nunez following the Liverpool forward’s costly miss in their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.
Slot chose not to criticise Nunez for the glaring miss during the match but acknowledged that the striker was likely more disappointed than his teammates given the significance of the missed opportunity.
Mohamed Salah’s early goal was quickly equalized by Youri Tielemans, and Ollie Watkins then put Villa ahead with a header before halftime.
In the second half, Trent Alexander-Arnold leveled the score, but Nunez, coming off the bench, skied a shot from close range after Dominik Szoboszlai had sent a through ball to Conor Bradley.
“There’s one player in the dressing room who feels quite down and I think you know who that is,” Slot revealed in his post-match chat with Amazon Prime of Nunez.
Asked to expand on his admission in the press conference, the Liverpool head coach said: “I saw an unbelievable pass from Conor Bradley and what a power run from Dominik Szoboszlai who made – in my opinion – the perfect touch to square it because from a one-v-one with the goalkeeper.
“Szoboszlai made it an open goal chance. Darwin was, of course…it was not the best leg, he is right-footed but it was still a big chance.
“Very unlucky and I was hoping he could have got another because a player like him, he wouldn’t miss two chances in a row and was very close afterwards when he went towards (Emiliano) Martinez again but Martinez made a great sliding tackle to win the ball.
“We were all disappointed but it’s normal the player who misses a chance is normally a bit more disappointed.
“The only reason why we could be happy with a 2-2 was that they got the last chance of the game and maybe their third chance after scoring two. And that would be the only reason why we would think that a point was good to take. But for the rest, I think for everything else, I am not happy with the 2-2.
“I was not happy at all being 2-1 down at half-time. That didn’t reflect in my opinion the first half but if you concede a set-piece, it can change quite quickly.”
