League Cup Winner Reveals How Tottenham Could Stop Mohamed Salah Against Liverpool Tonight

Ange Postecoglou leads his team to Anfield for a cup clash tonight, aiming to neutralise the in-form Mohamed Salah.

Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and League Cup winner Michel Vorm has suggested a potential strategy for Postecoglou’s side to contain the prolific Salah on Thursday night and secure a spot in the Carabao Cup final.

Spurs head to Anfield with a 1-0 advantage, having defeated Arne Slot’s side in North London last month. Tottenham have not lifted a trophy since 2008, and if they can maintain their lead on Merseyside, they will be just one victory away from claiming silverware.

A chance to triumph at Wembley Stadium would offer some redemption in what has been a disappointing Premier League campaign for Postecoglou. Despite holding the advantage, the London club enters the second leg as underdogs due to Liverpool’s blistering form.

The Reds strengthened their grip at the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at the weekend. Liverpool now hold a six-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, with a game in hand.

League Cup Winner Gives Advice on Stopping Salah

Egyptian star Salah netted twice in that match, bringing his total to 25 goals across all competitions. Containing the forward will be a key focus for Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking to LondonWorld via 888sport, Vorm said: “You can always do your homework and look at where Salah shoot from at certain angles, whether he is coming from the middle, right or left-hand side of the goal.

“You can also look at how he strikes the ball from different positions so you can anticipate where the ball may go.

“Ultimately, to stay fully concentrated at all times is key and yes, you do need to sometimes anticipate where the ball may go, to give yourself a better chance of saving the shot. Staying big as a goalkeeper is very important to maximise your ability to save the ball.”

With experience of playing at Anfield multiple times, Vorm also offered guidance to Tottenham Hotspur’s goalkeepers on handling the stadium’s renowned atmosphere. Antonin Kinsky is expected to start in goal, as Guglielmo Vicario remains unavailable due to injury.

Vorm said: “It’s really difficult. The sound of the Kop behind you as a goalkeeper is very loud. It is one of the toughest Stadiums to play at as now only do you know it will be a tough game, but the aura of playing at Anfield is big.

“It’s a great stadium and the fans are always pushing the home team on. But as a goalkeeper, mentally, it’s just another game and you can’t let any outside interference affect your concentration or your game and you can learn from this and thrive in the experience of being the opposing goalkeeper.”
