11X Possession Lost: 30-touch Liverpool Star Had a Big Opportunity to Impress vs Tottenham, He Completely Failed

Liverpool suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

The Reds travelled to north London brimming with confidence, having remained unbeaten across all competitions since their 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in September.

However, their impressive streak came to an end courtesy of a late goal from Lucas Bergvall, sealing victory for Spurs.

The decisive strike by the 18-year-old was not without controversy, as Liverpool argued he should not have been on the pitch to make such an impact.

Bergvall had already received a yellow card before committing a foul on Kostas Tsimikas late in the game, an incident that referee Stuart Attwell overlooked.

Despite the contentious nature of the goal, Liverpool players acknowledged their subpar performance and will aim for an improved display when they host Spurs at Anfield next month.

Diogo Jota Failed to Shine vs Tottenham

Manager Arne Slot fielded a strong lineup against Spurs yesterday, including key players such as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Ryan Gravenberch.

The Dutch manager also gave Diogo Jota a significant opportunity, as the forward has mostly been restricted to substitute roles in recent months.

Jota had the chance to use the game to stake his claim for a starting spot, but he struggled to make an impact with his performance.

His only notable contribution was a blocked shot just before half-time, and he was substituted after 60 minutes.

The 28-year-old managed only 30 touches during the game and surrendered possession 11 times.

He committed two fouls, was dribbled past once, but did manage a key pass and two tackles during his time on the pitch.

Jota has featured in 17 matches across all competitions this season, scoring six goals along the way.
