Liverpool Stance on £54m-rated Ace Revealed Amid Trent Alexander-Arnold Update

Liverpool have the chance to strengthen their squad in the coming weeks, with the January transfer window now officially open. Currently leading the Premier League table, they are firmly in the race for the title.

Arne Slot’s men return to action this weekend with a home clash against Manchester United, aiming to maintain their winning momentum. Here’s a roundup of the latest news and rumours surrounding the club.

Liverpool Stance on Darwin Nunez

Liverpool are ‘unlikely’ to allow Darwin Nunez to leave the club this winter, according to the Daily Mail. The report also claims that there has been ‘no contact’ from AC Milan, despite recent speculation linking the striker with a move to the Serie A side.

The Uruguay international, aged 25, has earned 33 caps for his country so far. Since his arrival at Anfield in 2022, he has added significant depth and competition to Liverpool’s attacking options. According to Transfermarkt, Nunez is currently valued at £54 million.

Nunez has made 119 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool, scoring 37 goals, four of which have come this season. With his contract running until June 2028, the club is under no immediate pressure to part ways with him and can afford to wait for an ideal offer before considering a sale.

Earlier in his career, Nunez had stints at Penarol, Almeria, and Benfica. During his time with the Portuguese side, he netted 48 goals in 85 appearances before securing his move to England.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Update at Liverpool

Slot has affirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is fully dedicated to Liverpool, despite uncertainty surrounding his future. With his contract set to expire in June, the defender has attracted interest from Real Madrid.

His manager has said: “I completely understand the question and why you ask it, but you already know the answer: these conversations I have never shared, not about Trent, not about any others, about what I talk to them about. It was a conversation as many others we had, me and Trent, so let’s leave it at that.

“I can tell you he is playing on Sunday and hopefully he brings the same performances as he brought in for the last half-year, because everybody saw how great a first half of the season he had, how much he is here, how much he wants to win here.

“I see him on the training ground every day working his a** off. He is fully committed to us and he will play on Sunday.

“If it would destabilise players at Liverpool if other people talk about them, then we would really have a problem because if you play at one of the biggest clubs in the world everybody is always – for 12 months long – talking about you, sometimes in relation to other clubs.

“That happens so many times for our players, so if that destabilises them then we really would have had a problem, not only now but in the last six months because there were some talks about our players in the last six months and I don’t think it destabilised them at all.”
