Liverpool Midfielder Misses Training as Arne Slot Calls Up 16-year-old Ahead of Manchester United Showdown
Liverpool players were hard at work at the AXA Training Centre as they prepared for their highly anticipated Premier League encounter against long-standing rivals Manchester United on Sunday at 4:30 PM GMT.
Most members of Arne Slot’s squad were present during Friday’s training session. In his pre-match press conference, the Liverpool head coach acknowledged that illnesses are common at this time of year but expressed confidence that none of his players would miss the match due to sickness.
Slot further revealed that Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley were set to participate in their first training session after spending a month on the sidelines with knee and hamstring injuries, respectively. Both players were photographed by the club’s media team at Kirkby, with Konate seen wearing a knee brace.
Several young talents were involved in Liverpool’s training session, with some beginning to establish themselves as regular faces in the first-team setup.
Trey Nyoni, who joined Arne Slot’s squad in the summer, has already made his full debut in the cup victory over Southampton. The 18-year-old midfielder has also been named on the bench four times in Premier League matches.
Similarly, Jayden Danns earned his first inclusion in a Premier League squad during the game against West Ham. After spending several months sidelined with a back injury, the 18-year-old striker is now edging closer to regular first-team involvement.
Additionally, 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha was seen training alongside senior stars such as Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Ngumoha, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea during the summer, was also named as an unused substitute in the Southampton fixture.
Heading into their clash against Manchester United, Liverpool sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Meanwhile, their fierce rivals are struggling in 14th place after suffering four consecutive defeats, and the Reds will aim to compound their misery further.
