“He Will Definitely Stay”: Liverpool Man’s Agent Shuts Down Talk of Anfield Exit and Confirms He’s Going Nowhere

Liverpool currently face the risk of losing several key players during the January transfer window.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah now eligible to negotiate with clubs outside the United Kingdom, concerns about their long-term futures are growing.

In the cases of Van Dijk and Salah, the primary worry revolves around potential summer departures rather than immediate moves.

However, there remains a genuine chance that Alexander-Arnold could join Real Madrid this month.

It’s not just ‘the big three’ attracting attention, though. Liverpool’s assistant coach, John Heitinga, has also been making headlines recently.

Following reports linking Heitinga with the managerial role at West Brom, the 41-year-old’s agent has stepped forward to dismiss the speculation.

John Heitinga Staying with Liverpool

Heitinga has proven to be an valuable member of Liverpool’s coaching team.

Young, highly regarded, and undoubtedly destined for a future as a head coach, Arne Slot has consistently praised Heitinga whenever given the opportunity.

A potential January departure to West Brom would have been a significant setback for both Slot and Liverpool.

Fortunately, Heitinga’s agent, Rob Jansen, has clarified to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf that the former Everton defender will remain at Anfield until the end of the season.

“John will definitely stay at Liverpool this season,” Jansen is quoted as saying.

The paper also report that Liverpool are planning to start new contract talks with Heitinga ‘early in the new year.’

Heitinga’s Eventual Exit Feels Inevitable

This is undoubtedly excellent news for Liverpool. While Slot rightfully deserves the majority of praise for the Reds’ impressive start to the season, Heitinga’s contribution cannot be overlooked.

The former Netherlands international is regarded as one of the most talented assistants in the game, and losing such an integral figure during a season where Liverpool are competing on multiple fronts would have been a significant blow.

However, as Rousing The Kop exclusively reported in December, Heitinga does have ambitions to become a head coach in the future.

With more managerial opportunities likely to arise at the end of the season, it seems almost certain that Liverpool will eventually have to bid farewell to their assistant.

For now, though, Johnny the Red has a Premier League title to chase.
