Mohamed Salah’s Father Shares Contract Update That Liverpool Fans Won’t Want to Hear

Although Salah consistently performing at a high standard is nothing new, the seasoned forward—now in his eighth season—has reached unprecedented heights this campaign. At 32 years old, he shows no indication of slowing down.
This situation leaves the club in a challenging position, having allowed his contract to run down under the assumption that his performance would gradually wane.
Instead, Salah is delivering the best football of his career, and retaining him on Merseyside next season will likely require an extraordinary wage package.

Now, with Salah approaching the end of his contract and potentially leaving Liverpool as a free agent, Saudi clubs are once again circling. A recently surfaced video involving Salah’s father hints at a possible bidding war for his services.
A video shared on X by Bayt Alhilal captures a discussion between Salah’s father, a fan, and a cameraman regarding Mo’s future.
One person says: “Mohamed Salah will go to Al Hilal.”
Another says to Salah’s dad: “We want Salah at Al Ittihad.”
And then Salah’s dad replies: “There’s Al Ittihad and Al Hilal. We will do a draw and see who pays more [laughs].”
The authenticity of the video remains unverified, and it does not necessarily imply that Salah shares his father’s views regarding his future. However, if Mo Salah were to make a move to Saudi Arabia, his family might have provided insight into which clubs he would most likely consider.
At Al Ittihad, Salah would have the opportunity to reunite with his former Liverpool teammate Fabinho, as well as play alongside ex-Real Madrid star Karim Benzema. On the other hand, a move to Al Hilal would see him team up with Neymar and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
More importantly, this serves as a reminder that Salah is not particularly close to agreeing on a new contract with Liverpool. Interest in him remains high, and it’s evident that his family is well aware of this.
Ideally, fans would prefer to hear Salah’s family dismiss any talk of a transfer. However, Saudi Arabia—and potentially other destinations—remains a very real option.
