Contact Made: Liverpool and Slot Eyeing Move to Sign £40m+ Star with 16 G/A in 2024/25 – Report
Liverpool have reportedly made contact over a potential move to sign a new attacker in 2025. The Reds are looking to strengthen their squad under the management of Arne Slot, continuing their remarkable start to life under the former Feyenoord boss.
Currently leading the Premier League in goals scored and holding the second-most assists in the division, behind only Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah is enjoying another stellar season at Anfield.
The Egyptian forward has been instrumental to Liverpool’s early season success. The team sits two points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand.
Additionally, the Reds have already secured their place in the next stage of the Champions League, winning all six of their group matches—a feat unmatched by any other team this season.
Salah’s contributions have been extraordinary, directly involved in 22 of Liverpool’s 31 Premier League goals—an incredible 71% of the team’s total output.
However, while his performances are exceptional, the reliance on Salah remains significant. With only Luis Diaz scoring more than three goals besides Salah in the current campaign, there is a clear need for greater contributions from the rest of the frontline.
Even if Salah extends his contract—a development that reports suggest is becoming increasingly likely—Liverpool will need to share the creative and goalscoring responsibilities more evenly.
To ease this burden and maintain momentum, the club could turn to the transfer market for reinforcements in the months ahead.
Liverpool in Contact for In-form Forward
A recent report from Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri claims that Liverpool have made contact with Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.
The Nigeria international, previously of Everton, has been in outstanding form in Serie A and could potentially make a move as early as the January transfer window.
Lookman, who scored a hat-trick to secure the Europa League title for Atalanta last May, has continued to shine this season. He has registered eight goals and four assists in Serie A and added three goals and one assist in five Champions League matches. His contributions, averaging a goal or assist every 65 minutes, have been crucial to Atalanta’s title push.
Despite his impressive performances, Atalanta are reportedly open to Lookman’s departure. The club have informed him that he is free to leave if a suitable offer is received.
According to the report, the former Everton player, who made 48 appearances for the Toffees, is eager to return to England. Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs that have already contacted Lookman’s representatives regarding a possible transfer.
However, Atalanta are said to be firm on their valuation of Lookman, refusing to entertain offers below €50m (£41m). This price tag could pose a challenge for Liverpool, particularly as the club may need to offload or restructure their current attacking options to accommodate his arrival.
While a January move remains possible, a summer transfer appears more likely. With Lookman’s contract in Bergamo set to expire in 2026, his departure seems inevitable, and Liverpool have now entered the race to bring the ex-Everton forward back to the Premier League.
