“All of the Detail” – Mohamed Salah Team-mate Makes Liverpool Contract Claim as Key Date Nears
Mohamed Aboutrika, a former Egypt international with 100 caps, believes the Liverpool star is increasing the pressure on the club to secure a new contract.
A former Egypt teammate of Mohamed Salah has suggested that the Liverpool forward is “putting more pressure” on the club to finalise a new deal.
At 32, Salah is continuing to deliver exceptional performances for Liverpool. This season, he has scored 16 goals and provided 13 assists, playing a pivotal role in the Reds’ success at the top of both the Premier League and Champions League standings.
Despite his impressive form, Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain. His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
From January, he will be free to enter pre-contract negotiations with clubs outside England, raising the possibility of Liverpool losing one of their most iconic players on a free transfer.
Salah addressed his contract situation openly after Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton, sparking mixed reactions with his candid remarks.
Speaking to beIN Sports (via Team Talk), Egyptian football legend Mohamed Aboutrika expressed his belief that Salah is letting his performances on the pitch speak volumes about his position.
!”Regardless of what was said about the contract, he speaks with his feet,” he said. “I always prefer that football players speak with their feet rather than their tongues. Let others speak for you.
“Your performance and numbers – every time there are new records – speak for you. So I think he is putting more pressure on Liverpool’s management and owners to renew his contract.”
Aboutrika, who earned 100 caps for Egypt and played 15 matches alongside Salah, also believes that the forward will be actively involved in discussions regarding his potential contract extension.
“Even on a personal level, he cares about all the details on and off the field,” he added. “He offers something new every year, so I think it is an exceptional start [this season].
“Salah’s 13 [Premier League] goals brought Liverpool 11 points this season, and without him, I think Liverpool would not have been at the top.”
