“A Lot of Refereeing” – Linda Pizutti Reacts to Controversial Liverpool Draw in Instagram Statement
Linda Pizzuti, the wife of Liverpool’s principal owner, John W. Henry, has shared her thoughts on the team’s 2-2 draw with Fulham.
The match, held at Anfield, saw the Reds battle back twice to secure a point despite being reduced to 10 men for over 70 minutes following Andy Robertson’s red card.
The game was eventful, with referee Tony Harrington issuing eight yellow cards and sending off Robertson. Liverpool head coach Arne Slot also received a booking in what turned out to be a highly charged encounter.
During the match, the Premier League issued two statements. The first explained why Fulham’s Issa Diop was not sent off for a knee-high challenge on Robertson. The second clarified the reasoning behind Robertson’s dismissal.
In addition, the Premier League later explained to the media why Andreas Pereira avoided a red card for a late challenge on Ryan Gravenberch, an incident that occurred before Pereira opened the scoring for Fulham.
Referee Harrington faced the ire of Liverpool fans, who booed and jeered him off the pitch at full-time, expressing their dissatisfaction with his officiating throughout the match.
Linda Pizzuti also hinted at her dissatisfaction with the referee’s performance.
However, she took the opportunity to commend both Arne Slot’s side and the Anfield supporters for their determination and resilience in securing a hard-fought draw against Fulham.
“A lot of refereeing in this draw,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “When the red card came out, Anfield filled in with support, and Liverpool played hard and dominated until the final whistle.”
