Jordan Henderson Makes Liverpool Feelings Clear in Two-word Message Before Merseyside Derby

Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson posted a message ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Everton.

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson took to social media to share a message ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.

On his Instagram story, the midfielder recalled a memorable moment—his goal against the Blues—as Liverpool prepare to face their city rivals for the last time at Goodison Park.

Arne Slot’s team will cross Stanley Park to take on Everton, who enter the clash riding high after a crucial 4-0 victory over Wolves earlier this week. Meanwhile, Liverpool sit seven points clear at the top of the Premier League but cannot afford to relax as they face another tough test.

Henderson, now playing in the Eredivisie with Ajax, left Liverpool last summer to join Steven Gerrard at Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq. However, he made a swift return to Europe six months later.

Ahead of Liverpool’s final game at Goodison Park, the official Instagram account shared a video of Henderson’s goal against Everton. His long-range strike in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over Rafael Benitez’s side in 2021 remains his only goal against their city rivals.

The 34-year-old shared the goal and captioned it: “Derby days,” accompanied by a face with steam emoji.

Although Henderson has left Liverpool, his connection to the club endures. In October, he paid a visit to the AXA Training Centre, where he reunited with his former teammates and was welcomed by Virgil van Dijk, who succeeded him as captain.

On his return to Merseyside, he told Voetbal Primeur: “So good. I’ve watched them a lot, I think the team have had another lift with the manager and the staff coming in.

“The performances have been outstanding every time I’ve watched them play, they look in full control. I went to Liverpool a few weeks ago and met Arne Slot there and his staff and the team, it was very impressive to be honest.

“You can see the energy is very good there at the minute, the vibe is good, they look very strong in the league. So it’s nice to see.”
