“Next Season” – Bellingham Makes Trent Alexander-Arnold Admission Before Big UCL Clash
Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid continues to be one of the hottest topics ahead of the big match between Real Madrid and Liverpool tonight.
The two European giants are set to clash in the Champions League, with Arne Slot’s side entering the match boasting a perfect record in the competition, having won all their games so far.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, currently sit 21st in the table, having secured victory in only two of their four matches in the competition, losing the other two.
Despite their current form, the Spanish side have consistently outperformed Liverpool in recent years, particularly in the Champions League, where they have defeated the Reds twice in finals during the Jurgen Klopp era.
The last encounter between these two teams was in the Round of 16 of the 2022/23 season. Real Madrid convincingly eliminated Liverpool with a 6-2 aggregate victory, which included a stunning 5-2 triumph at Anfield.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been sidelined for Liverpool since the international break and missed the game against Southampton last weekend. However, he returned to training ahead of the Madrid game, with Arne Slot hinting at a possible comeback against the La Liga giants.
Amid strong transfer speculation linking Trent to Real Madrid, his close friend and England teammate, Jude Bellingham, was asked about the rumours ahead of the game.
Bellingham, however, deemed it disrespectful to discuss Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool. When asked if he could envision playing alongside Trent at Real Madrid next season, Bellingham responded diplomatically, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“I’ll be playing alongside him next season for England anyway. That will be a guarantee. But he’s a Liverpool player and it would be disrespectful to come to his home today with a big game tomorrow and talk about something that could be misconstrued, so it’s important to take that pressure off him. I want him to do really well normally. Just not tomorrow.”
Liverpool’s Contract Situation Spark Outrage Among Supporters
Liverpool fans have expressed frustration over the club’s handling of contract negotiations involving three of their star players, widely regarded as some of the best in their respective positions in the league.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all have contracts set to expire next summer. Despite this, the club have yet to offer new deals to any of the trio, a situation that many find puzzling and concerning.
Salah, who has been instrumental in securing 17 points for Liverpool this season, including a crucial win against Southampton over the weekend, has publicly voiced his dissatisfaction. The forward revealed his disappointment with the club’s lack of initiative in offering him a new contract.
With only months remaining before these players are eligible to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs, Liverpool faces the looming threat of losing them. Such departures would undoubtedly deal a significant blow to the team.
