Mohamed Salah’s Agent Adds New Intrigue to Liverpool Contract Situation

Ramy Abbas Issa has once again stirred speculation with a new social media post related to Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

When silence becomes deafening, even a slight remark can feel like a resounding declaration. Such is the case with Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa.

The prolonged absence of any public progress regarding a possible new contract for Salah at Liverpool has created a void, which has been filled with conjecture and occasional hints from the player himself.

On Monday morning, Abbas took to social media for the first time in two months to directly reference the Liverpool star, catching the attention of many.

Quoting a post from the official Premier League account noting that no player has had more goal involvements in the league this season, Salah was described by his agent as the “Best player in the world.”

It is hardly surprising that the agent holds his client in such high regard, and Liverpool negotiations are unlikely to be influenced by social media comments.

However, the timing of this post is intriguing, especially after weekend reports from Egyptian media about Salah’s future.

According to these reports, Salah is seeking a two-year contract extension and intends to push forward with discussions over the next two weeks, having been granted a rare international break due to Egypt’s qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations.

With Salah now less than two months from being eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs, Liverpool, under the guidance of sporting director Richard Hughes, faces pressure to secure his future and prevent him from leaving for free next summer.

Salah is not the only Liverpool player facing this uncertainty. Both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also in the final year of their contracts, with the club actively working behind the scenes to address each case. Talks have already begun with Van Dijk, who has expressed a desire to stay at Anfield.

As previously reported by The ECHO, Salah also prefers to remain at Liverpool, continuing his impressive career with the club even after a managerial change, with Arne Slot taking over from long-time coach Jurgen Klopp this summer.

Salah has had an impactful season, playing more minutes than all but Van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch. His goal and assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday made him the first player in Europe’s top leagues to reach double figures in both metrics this season.

Slot has consistently praised Salah’s ability to maintain top performance levels, even at age 32, crediting the forward’s dedication to physical conditioning. Liverpool title-winner Ray Houghton also sees a path forward, influenced by another notable player’s example.

“I think the best example is Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said to talkSPORT. “You look at what Ronaldo has done to himself, and how he’s kept himself in prime condition. It’s about attitude of mind, it’s about living the right way, it’s about applying yourself.

“And I think Mo’s in that category. I think he wants to play for as long as he can, because he loves football, he loves scoring goals, he loves assisting.”
