“Let’s Not Forget: Arne Slot Suggest One Liverpool Player Deserves Just as Much Praise as Mo Salah After PL Win Over Aston Villa
Liverpool achieved a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, extending their lead at the top of the table to five points over Manchester City.
Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah scored on either side of halftime, helping the Reds secure a comfortable win at Anfield as Arne Slot continues his record-breaking start as the club’s new manager.
Salah became the first player in Europe’s top five leagues this season to reach ten goals and ten assists, highlighting his outstanding performance under Slot’s leadership.
However, Slot admitted that another player also deserves significant recognition, potentially even more than the Egyptian star.
Arne Slot Lauds Luis Diaz After Liverpool Win vs Aston Villa
Salah delivered an impressive performance against a lively Aston Villa team, scoring a goal and providing an assist, with his late strike ultimately sealing the victory.
After the match, however, Slot was quick to highlight Luis Diaz’s impact. The Colombian put in a tireless defensive effort, helping his team secure the win.
“I think he (Salah) has the best numbers from all of our attackers,” said Slot on TNT Sports.
“All of our attackers have great numbers, but Mo stands out in that aspect. But apart from the numbers our forwards have, let’s not forget the defensive run Lucho Diaz made to make sure we could have kept a clean sheet.”
Diaz’s Stats vs Aston Villa
Slot praised Diaz following his performance against Brighton last week, and the Colombian forward repaid his manager’s confidence by scoring a hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.
His defensive work rate also drew commendation, and a closer examination of his game stats indicates he contributed effectively to supporting Liverpool’s defence.
Although he didn’t score or provide an assist today, his energetic performance was notable, especially as he ended the match playing as a center-forward after Nunez was substituted.
Since joining Liverpool for £50m in January 2022, Diaz has been in arguably the best form of his career, showcasing his quality under the guidance of the new manager.
