Six Arsenal Players Potentially Unavailable for Liverpool Premier League Clash as Mikel Arteta Considers a Change of Plans

Bukayo Saka was missing from Arsenal’s most recent training session. The winger was unavailable for the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat against AFC Bournemouth last weekend due to a hamstring injury sustained while playing for England.

As Arsenal prepare to take on Shakhtar Donetsk tonight in the Champions League, Saka’s participation appears uncertain. He was not seen with his teammates during yesterday’s open session at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.

This situation puts Mikel Arteta’s squad in a race against time to have Saka fit for the crucial Premier League match against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal are vying to break Manchester City’s four-year dominance at the top of the league. Liverpool currently lead the table following a 2-1 victory over Chelsea, sitting four points ahead of Arsenal.

Additionally, Jurrien Timber was also absent from Arsenal training, and captain Martin Odegaard continues to be sidelined with ankle ligament damage. Odegaard has not resumed training after being out for a month.

The Gunners are considering whether to appeal William Saliba’s red card received during the match against Bournemouth. Initially, Arteta had stated that it was unlikely the club would seek to overturn the decision after the defeat.

However, ahead of the match against Shakhtar Donetsk, Arteta has had a change of heart, indicating that club officials are deliberating whether to file an appeal to the FA. He stated:

“I leave that more to the club to understand the circumstances. They will have to decide it.”

Arsenal have until the end of the day to determine if they will try to have Saliba’s one-match suspension revoked. In the meantime, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney remain unavailable for the Gunners.
