Liverpool Told the Three Reasons Arne Slot Could Win Premier League Title This Season
Arne Slot has led Liverpool to an impressive start to the season, with the club currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table, having accumulated 21 points from eight matches.
Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann is confident that the club have a strong chance of winning the Premier League, citing the team’s exceptional start to the campaign as a key factor.
Liverpool have enjoyed a successful run, winning 10 of their first 11 matches across all competitions. In the Premier League, they have secured victories in seven out of eight games. Their first major test of the season came on Sunday when they triumphed 2-1 over Chelsea at Anfield.
Chelsea, who had been in fourth place and showed promise under new manager Enzo Maresca, put up a good fight. However, Liverpool emerged victorious, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones sealing the win.
Meanwhile, Manchester City kept the title race tight by securing a last-minute win against Wolves, thanks to John Stones’ injury-time goal. Despite this, Liverpool extended their lead over Arsenal to four points, as the Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
Hamann thinks that the team is functioning well enough to go all the way this season. “I think Liverpool have shown they can win the Premier League, apart from the Nottingham Forest game, they’ve been brilliant,” he told Flashscore.
“The team functions well, everyone is happy and psychologically, and the win against Chelsea is huge. It was an even game but Liverpool came out on top, which is a massive sign of intent.”
Liverpool and Arsenal both saw their title hopes boosted last month due to an unfortunate development: Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Rodri has been regarded as one of the top players in the world in recent years, and his absence is expected to significantly impact Pep Guardiola’s team in their quest to win the Premier League for a fifth consecutive season.
However, Arsenal has not fully capitalised on the situation, dropping points over the weekend.
The club have won only five of their eight league matches so far this season. They failed to secure victories against Brighton, Manchester City, and Bournemouth, in all of which Mikel Arteta’s side had a player sent off.
Didi Hamann believes that these two factors—the loss of Rodri for Manchester City and Arsenal’s struggles—will further enhance Liverpool’s chances of claiming the Premier League title this season.
Hamann added: “Manchester City have lost Rodri, he can’t be replaced and Arsenal dropped points, I think Liverpool have a great chance to win the Premier League and go far in the Champions League.”
