“Kept Him Quiet”: Daniel Sturridge Says Liverpool Player Curtis Jones Completely Dominated Chelsea Star Today

Liverpool reclaimed their position at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday, securing a narrow 2-1 victory against Chelsea.

Earlier in the day, Manchester City had briefly overtaken them in the standings with a dramatic late win over Wolves.

Liverpool, however, knew that a win at Anfield against Chelsea would restore their place at the summit.

It wasn’t an easy game for Liverpool, as Chelsea arrived in Merseyside in excellent form.

Under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, Chelsea had shown significant improvement, with Cole Palmer emerging as a key player. At 22 years old, Palmer was expected to be the main threat Liverpool had to neutralise.

Fortunately for Liverpool, they successfully kept Palmer quiet, preventing him from scoring or assisting. After the match, former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge praised one Liverpool player in particular for leading the effort to contain Palmer.

The England international has been in impressive form, having netted four goals in a single match against Brighton in the previous month.

While several Chelsea players are currently posing a threat, Palmer was undoubtedly the key player Liverpool needed to keep in check.

However, the former Manchester City player was unable to make a significant impact at Anfield. According to Daniel Sturridge, this was primarily due to the outstanding performance of Curtis Jones in Liverpool’s midfield.

“He kept Cole Palmer quiet today,” the 35-year-old raved to Sky Sports after the game.

“We gave Cole the talk today, but you see Cutis today, playing on that side of the pitch, came away with a goal. Top, top class.”

Gary Neville also praised Jones, naming the 23-year-old as Liverpool’s best player ‘by an absolute mile’ against Chelsea.
