Liverpool Handed Major Boost Ahead of Challenging Fixtures for Arne Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has received a major boost during the international break as Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Curtis Jones have all been released early from their respective national teams.

This development comes as a relief for Slot, who last month had to deal with Harvey Elliott being sidelined due to a foot injury sustained during the previous international break.

Additionally, Alexis Mac Allister also picked up a knock while playing for Argentina. However, this time around, three of Liverpool’s key players are returning early, minimizing the risk of further injuries.

The timing of this news is critical for the Reds, who are facing a tough series of matches as they continue their title pursuit. Their next challenge is a crucial fixture against Chelsea next Sunday.

Salah’s early release from the Egypt camp followed concerns raised by Egypt coach Hossam Hassan about the quality of the pitch for their upcoming match against Mauritania.

Although Salah contributed to Egypt’s 2-0 win over the same team in Cairo, Hassan voiced concerns over the forward playing on an artificial pitch against opponents known for their “hard and violent interventions”.

“If any player asks me not to play on artificial turf, I will agree,” he stated. “The Mauritanian team plays hard and with violent interventions, and their field is not the best. If Salah specifically asks me to do so, I will agree.”

Curtis Jones has left the England squad for “personal reasons” as revealed on Saturday. He was on the bench but did not feature in England’s 2-1 loss to Greece.

The England U21s, under Lee Carsley, are preparing to travel to Finland for their upcoming Nations League fixture. However, Jones will not be part of the squad.

Additionally, Virgil van Dijk is cleared to return to Liverpool after being sent off during the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw with Hungary on Friday. As a result, he will sit out their next game against Germany.

With Jones and Van Dijk back in the fold, Liverpool will have all three players available for their upcoming clash against Chelsea.
