Liverpool Making Strides in Contract Talks with Two Key Players as They Look Set for a Long-term Future Under Arne Slot

Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate are in discussions regarding new contracts with Liverpool, as the club seek to secure their futures under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Arne Slot.

Liverpool are actively engaged in negotiations with two of their key defenders—Jarell Quansah and Ibrahima Konate.

According to Liverpool.com, talks with Quansah have advanced, with discussions about a new contract well underway. On the other hand, negotiations with Konate, the French defender, are still in the early stages.

Both players appear set for long-term stays under Arne Slot, who has been working with them for several months.

Quansah, 21, initially signed a four-year contract in May 2023, but a new deal has yet to be finalised to reflect his status in the first team.

The England Under-21 defender made a significant impact during the last season, becoming a key player under former manager Jurgen Klopp. He made 33 appearances for the Reds during that campaign.

Quansah’s current contract was agreed upon before his rise to first-team prominence, and as a result, it does not adequately compensate him for his new role. This situation is expected to be resolved soon, with discussions nearing a conclusion.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also keen to secure Ibrahima Konate, 25, who has two years left on his current contract. Konate originally signed a five-year deal when he joined the club from RB Leipzig in 2021.

Although talks with Konate’s representatives are still in their early phases, neither party is in a hurry. Konate has re-established himself as a regular starter under new head coach Arne Slot, further solidifying his place within the team.

Liverpool have also been discussing the futures of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mo Salah.

With all three players approaching the last year of their contracts, the club’s sporting department is making sure that other contract matters are being handled as well.
