“Another Couple of Weeks”: Liverpool Set to be Without “Amazing” Player for a Little While Longer – Journalist

Liverpool have largely managed to sidestep discussions about injuries during the initial phase of Arne Slot’s tenure as head coach.

In previous years, the team has faced numerous fitness challenges, often dealing with recurring muscle injuries among players.

To address these concerns, Slot has appointed Ruben Peeters as head of conditioning. Peeters comes with a solid reputation for maintaining player fitness from his time at Feyenoord. Thus far, the efforts of Peeters and the rest of the Liverpool conditioning team have shown positive results.

However, there are still a few minor injury concerns. Federico Chiesa is currently sidelined, and it remains uncertain whether he will be available for the upcoming match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Additionally, Harvey Elliott has been out for a bit longer; the 21-year-old has already missed five games for Liverpool this season. Journalist David Lynch has shared updates regarding Elliott’s potential return to the pitch.

Harvey Elliott Set to Miss a Little Longer

Elliott is likely feeling extremely frustrated at missing out on a vital phase of the season under Slot.

While he may not have been a regular starter for the new Liverpool head coach, he would have certainly had opportunities to showcase his talent.

Elliott performed well during pre-season and seems like a natural choice to support Dominik Szoboszlai in the attacking midfield position.

Given Szoboszlai’s inconsistent form lately, Harvey could have taken advantage of that situation and provided Slot with an additional option.

Speaking to Anfield Agenda, though, Lynch confirms that Elliott is set to miss Saturday’s trip to Palace and may still be out for ‘another couple of weeks’ beyond the international break.

“Harvey, that was always kind of spoken about as the other side of the international break,” says the reporter.

“I’m not entirely sure whether that will be immediately or whether it might just edge into another couple of weeks after that. But certainly this month [October] was the initial expectation I was given.”

Alexis Mac Allister recently praised Elliott, calling him ‘amazing’; however, Liverpool has become accustomed to managing without him for the time being.

Consequently, the team is unlikely to feel his absence too severely at Selhurst Park. It is important to note, though, that Elliott scored the dramatic winning goal in this fixture last season.

In other news, Slot is expected to provide an update on Chiesa’s condition during his press conference on Friday morning.

Other than those two players, the Liverpool squad currently faces no significant issues. Diogo Jota appears to be in good shape after coming on as a substitute on Wednesday, and Darwin Nunez has also recovered from his recent illness.

We will find out soon if any additional concerns have arisen beyond this.
