‘Got a Knock’ – Arne Slot Says Liverpool Player Picked Up a Slight Injury Issue Against Wolves
Liverpool successfully navigated a challenging encounter against Wolves on Saturday night, securing their spot at the top of the Premier League table.
The Reds had an opportunity to overtake Manchester City in first place after Pep Guardiola’s team drew against Newcastle earlier in the day.
Despite facing difficulties at times during the match at Molineux, Liverpool ultimately achieved their objective.
Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah provided the goals, while Ryan Gravenberch delivered another outstanding man-of-the-match performance, contributing to the team’s three points.
Although the overall performance may require further assessment to prevent similar issues in the future, Liverpool’s day in the Premier League was filled with positives.
However, speaking after the match, Arne Slot hinted at one minor drawback from Liverpool’s outing in the West Midlands.
Arne Slot Provides Andy Robertson Update
Liverpool will need to improve their performance compared to their match against Wolves if they hope to contend for the Premier League title. Their display in that game left much to be desired.
On the bright side, they managed to secure three points, and most importantly, the players remained injury-free. Well, almost everyone.
Andy Robertson had to leave the field in the final moments due to a late challenge from Carlos Forbs.
With so little time left in the game, Slot opted not to take any chances, and Robertson, who appeared to be limping, was substituted by Joe Gomez.
The challenge by Forbes seemed a bit harsh, which raised concerns over Robertson’s condition.
However, during the post-match press conference, Slot mentioned that while Robertson did sustain a knock, it is not expected to be a serious injury.
“I don’t expect this to be a big problem, although you never know, but I think he just got a knock,” said Slot. “End phase of the game, maybe he was a bit tired as well because the guy who came in – Forbs, I knew him, of course, from the Dutch competition – he made it a real fight for him.
“He got a bit of a knock but I’m expecting him to be in training on Monday again, but let’s wait.”
Robertson’s exit from the game had the potential to overshadow what turned out to be a positive day for Liverpool.
The £10m defender has been a constant presence, starting in every Premier League match this season. While Kostas Tsimikas has proven to be a reliable replacement, Robertson remains a crucial player for Liverpool.
Fortunately, it seems that the 30-year-old will recover in time to be available for Liverpool’s midweek Champions League clash with Bologna.
In the lead-up to that game, Liverpool’s only other injury concern appears to be Harvey Elliott.
That said, following a physically intense match at Molineux, there could still be more injury updates in the coming days. Hopefully, there will be no further setbacks.
