‘Instrumental’: Three Liverpool Players Named in Alan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week

Liverpool are now just one point behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League standings after securing a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Diaz stood out for Liverpool, with Diaz scoring twice in the first half at Anfield.

Darwin Nunez also found the back of the net, delivering an impressive goal in his first start under manager Arne Slot.

Slot has hinted that Nunez may start in the upcoming League Cup match against West Ham, scheduled for Wednesday.

The match will take place at Anfield, where Liverpool recently defeated Bournemouth in their previous home encounter.

Alan Shearer Names Three Liverpool Players in His Premier League Team of the Week

Liverpool delivered an impressive performance as a team, marking their return to winning form in the Premier League. This victory followed a shock 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Despite Liverpool’s strong display, pundit Alan Shearer chose to highlight the contributions of three players from Slot’s side when selecting his Premier League Team of the Week.

One notable inclusion in his selection was Alexander-Arnold, whom Shearer acknowledged for his contributions in defence.

“Solid defensively and produced a surging run and perfectly weighted pass to assist Luis Diaz’s second goal.”

Ryan Gravenberch also made the cut: “Instrumental in Liverpool’s midfield. He’s adapted really well to a more defensive role under Arne Slot.”

And Diaz also got a mention, with Shearer saying: “He’s becoming one of Liverpool’s go-to players, scoring two goals in quick succession to secure the victory over Bournemouth.”

Liverpool had a promising run under Jurgen Klopp last season, but there were certainly areas in need of improvement.

Rather than making significant moves in the transfer market, Slot has evidently focused on enhancing the squad through internal efforts.

While Federico Chiesa was added to strengthen the attack, it has often been Diaz stepping up as the key offensive player, a role he didn’t assume last season.

On the other hand, Gravenberch struggled to find his footing under Klopp last year, but he appears to be a transformed player this season.
