“Makes Me Really Happy”: Arne Slot Says Liverpool Have an “Outstanding” Player Who Was Great vs Bournemouth

Liverpool secured a very crucial victory on Saturday, earning three valuable points to momentarily claim the top spot in the Premier League standings.

However, the Reds will not remain at the summit by the end of the weekend. With Manchester City and Arsenal set to face each other on Sunday, one of those teams is expected to overtake them.

For now, Liverpool enjoy being in first place. After the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, manager Arne Slot has every reason to be satisfied with the latest result.

The performance against Bournemouth was far from flawless. Mohamed Salah, in particular, has drawn criticism for his showing, and he wasn’t the only player who appeared slightly below par.

Nevertheless, Liverpool as a team displayed a much-improved performance compared to their previous outing at Anfield.

In his post-match comments, Slot made a point of acknowledging the significant impact of Trent Alexander-Arnold on the game.

Arne Slot Explains Trent Alexander-Arnold Hope

Alexander-Arnold has been in the headlines this week following rumors from France suggesting that the Scouser is planning to take control of Ligue 1 team Nantes.

However, recent reports indicate that Alexander-Arnold is not preparing any bid for Nantes. Saturday provided him with the first opportunity to redirect his focus back to his performance on the pitch.

Overall, the Liverpool academy product handled the situation exceptionally well. He even contributed to a goal by assisting Luis Diaz’s second strike of the match.

Following his assist to Ibrahima Konate in the game against AC Milan, Alexander-Arnold has now registered two assists in two consecutive games.

The 25-year-old has also shown significant improvement in his defensive performance over the past few matches. In a conversation with BBC Sport, Slot mentioned that if Trent could balance his attacking and defensive duties in the upcoming weeks, it would “make him very happy.”

“I’m not surprised he is involved in so many goals because his quality is outstanding,” raved the Liverpool head coach.

“But what I also liked today was how he defended. If he can combine those two things he makes me really happy.”

Slot Reserves Praise for Luis Diaz

Slot expressed his satisfaction to the BBC, not only about Alexander-Arnold but also about Diaz’s impressive performance against Bournemouth.

Diaz scored a well-executed double, bringing his tally to five goals in five Premier League matches this season. His manager is obviously thrilled with the Colombian’s progress.

“They were really good finishes,” said Slot. “But it’s also important what led to the finish.

“They were really aggressive, Bournemouth, so Konate understood a ball in behind was a good one to take. For the second Trent made a good run with the ball and Luis finished both off really well.”

Two great performances which ultimately won the game for Liverpool.
