“Came Back Strong”: Arne Slot Says One Liverpool Player Impressed Him With How Fit He Was After His Holidays

Liverpool are eager to return to action this weekend, aiming for a fourth consecutive Premier League victory.

The Reds have been exceptional this season, winning all three of their opening matches without conceding a single goal.

Furthermore, Liverpool took an early opportunity to assert their dominance against a key rival, delivering a commanding 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

A central figure in Liverpool’s impressive early form has been Ryan Gravenberch, who has found a new lease on life under manager Slot at Anfield.

Last season, the Dutchman had an inconsistent role in Jurgen Klopp’s lineup, but Slot has utilized him brilliantly as a No. 6 midfielder.

Speaking to the Liverpool media team before Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest, Slot praised Gravenberch’s outstanding performances.

Arne Slot Says “Really Fit” Ryan Gravenberch Benefits From How Liverpool are Playing

On Gravenberch’s efforts to ‘learn’ his new role, Slot replied: “Yeah, learn that position, he’s been a midfielder all his life.

“Maybe he’s playing a bit deeper is the English word I think, a bit lower [and] deeper than he did before, but it’s not that much of a difference.

“I think he, like the other ones who do really well, benefit from how the team is playing.

“Ryan came back strong like many others and [by] stronger I mean really fit.

“He played some good games and took his chance, but I think in general, like the others who score goals, we are talking about the benefits also from a team structure.”

Gravenberch Has Been “Reinvented”

It’s always gratifying to witness a player who once struggled transform into a key figure for his team.

Gravenberch has clearly put in significant effort, and Slot’s subtle adjustments to his role have paid off handsomely.

Pundit Tim Sherwood has mentioned that Liverpool have “reinvented” Gravenberch during the summer.

“Gravenberch as a six has been a massive plus for me. He has been reinvented,” Sherwood told Premier League Productions.

“People thought he was eight, he would run forward into the box.

“He can handle the ball, he can break up the game, and he has got Szoboszlai and Mac Allister either side of him, two of the best eights in there.

“And you have got Mo Salah who is absolutely on fire again.”
