“I Believe” – Paul Merson Predicts Win for Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest and Whether Arne Slot Can Win the Premier League This Season
Liverpool have hit the ground running under Arne Slot, securing maximum points from their first three Premier League matches.
The Reds are the sole side in the Premier League that have yet to concede a goal, having netted seven times, including a recent 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
With a promising start under their new manager, Liverpool are gearing up to face Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.
Paul Merson anticipates that the home side will maintain their dominant form as they seek to challenge Arsenal and Manchester City for the Premier League title.
Paul Merson Predicts Another Liverpool Win
Although the Arsenal legend admitted that the outcome of the game is not certain, he predicted a 2-0 victory for Liverpool, attributing his prediction to their strong form at the beginning of the season.
“I expect Liverpool to win, but this could still prove to be a difficult game. I like what I’ve seen from Arne Slot’s men so far,” Merson wrote in his column for Sportskeeda.
Fans and pundits alike have predicted that The Reds could mount a Premier League title challenge following their strong start to the season.
Merson believes they possess all the necessary qualities to succeed, but injuries might play a crucial role in determining their progress in the title race.
He continued: “If they keep all their players fit, and I said this from day one, I believe they have a chance of winning the league.
“But if they do pick up injuries, it’ll start to look a bit different and could raise problems for Slot. If you look at Manchester City, they did not have Kevin De Bruyne or Erling Haaland at times last season and they still won it.
“Unfortunately, Liverpool don’t have that type of luxury in squad depth. This makes managing players carefully all the more important.”
Merson is optimistic that Liverpool can contend for the Premier League title this season, but Steve Nicol feels that Liverpool currently trail behind Arsenal and Manchester City.
Things are Looking Good for Liverpool
Liverpool have performed impressively under Slot and have adapted smoothly to his tactics.
Although there were concerns about a potential transition season following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, those worries have been quickly dispelled.
Slot, known for his meticulous and detail-oriented approach, is clearly making a significant impact with his training methods.
If Liverpool continue their current form, a new Premier League challenge could be on the horizon for Anfield.
