Liverpool Face Concern Over Alexis Mac Allister as Agent Addresses Possible Transfer
Liverpool have enjoyed a fantastic start to the Premier League season. The Reds currently occupy second place behind Manchester City, having won their first three matches without conceding a single goal.
Following the international break, Liverpool will return to action when they face Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
The match, scheduled for September 14, provides the Reds with an opportunity to extend their perfect start to the season and maintain the positive momentum under the management of Arne Slot, who has successfully revitalized the team.
Like many other Premier League clubs, Liverpool have several players on international duty this month.
Slot will be hoping that none of his squad members return with injuries or fitness concerns, especially with a demanding schedule ahead before the next international break.
Newsnow Liverpool has compiled a summary of recent stories surrounding the Reds that have made headlines over the past 24 hours.
MacAllister Injury Concern
Alexis Mac Allister is dealing with an adductor injury after being substituted during Argentina’s 3-0 victory over Chile in the early hours of Friday morning.
The Liverpool midfielder scored the opening goal for the reigning world champions before being replaced in the 79th minute.
Mac Allister was already a fitness concern before the match, with Argentina’s manager, Lionel Scaloni, stating that the team needed to evaluate him.
This followed the 25-year-old’s absence from training earlier in the week after joining the national squad.
“Alexis didn’t train because he was overloaded, he was in pain,” Scaloni told TyC Sports. “It always happens to us, they come out to do their part.”
Huerta Agent Speaks Out
Cesar Huerta‘s agent has shed light on why his potential transfer to Liverpool fell through this summer.
The Reds were rumored to have made a late approach for the Pumas striker, who netted 12 goals in 40 appearances during the 2023/24 season.
It was reported that Liverpool intended to purchase Huerta and then loan him to Sunderland. However, the Black Cats reportedly declined their role in the arrangement, leading to the collapse of the deal.
His agent, Gabriel Moraes, has since discussed the unsuccessful transfer in an interview with Jovenes Futbolistas MX. “The quality of the other options was not strong enough for Huerta to grow, to be a Liverpool player in 2025,” Moraes explains.
“That was the idea and Liverpool only wanted England and by law could not loan another Premier League player.
“Not all teams needed the position or could guarantee minutes during the 2024-2025 season. He [Huerta] deserved better but life is like that sometimes.”
