Gabby Agbonlahor Reveals What “Outstanding” Ryan Gravenberch Did to One Player vs Man United

Since the beginning of the season, Ryan Gravenberch has shown a remarkable transformation in a new role.

With the arrival of head coach Arne Slot, the midfielder has been shifted into the number six position, following Liverpool’s failure to secure their primary target, Martin Zubimendi, this summer.

Gravenberch has since established himself as a key figure in Slot’s starting lineup. He has been commanding in the midfield, consistently pressing high and demonstrating exceptional defensive skills.

Gabriel Agbonlahor Says Gravenberch “Retired Casemiro”

In the match against United, Gravenberch delivered another exceptional performance. He was highly active across the pitch, constantly driving forward and demonstrating physical strength and power.

Gravenberch played a crucial role in Liverpool’s first two goals, including a key moment where he outmaneuvered the more experienced Casemiro.

Gabby Agbonlahor, a former Aston Villa player, recognised Gravenberch’s efforts by including him in his team of the week on talkSPORT. He even remarked that the Dutchman’s display was so impressive, he “retired Casemiro.”

[On Gravenberch] “I thought he was outstanding yesterday.” said Agbonlahor.

“I really feel he probably retired Casemiro. He can have that on his CV, I retired one of the best defensive midfielders to play the game.

“I felt that his energy levels, his running off the ball, his running at pace, his little touches, I thought he was a delight to watch. He’s been like that all season, I feel if you asked him last season he would’ve been frustrated at his game time.

“But you can see why Jurgen Klopp brought him to the club. He’s a very talented midfielder with legs and you can ask any midfielder, they hate playing against midfielders with legs.”
