“I’m Quite Sure” – Arne Slot Provides Liverpool Injury Update Ahead of Premier League Game Against Man United

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones was absent from the match against Brentford due to a minor muscle injury. Ahead of the Reds’ upcoming game against Manchester United, Arne Slot has provided an update on his condition.

Jones is now in a race to recover in time for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United next weekend, after missing the Brentford match in the Premier League due to the muscle issue.

Despite having dealt with various injury setbacks throughout his career, Jones was optimistic that those issues were behind him.

However, just two games into the new era under manager Arne Slot, he has encountered another minor setback.

“It’s going to be close but we’ll have to wait and see,” Slot said when asked about Jones’ problem and whether or not he would be fit to face Manchester United at Old Trafford next weekend.

“It’s always difficult to see how an injury evolves — if that is the right word — during the upcoming week.

“He is not going to be out for a long time but it’s going to be close for him to get there next week and I’m quite sure he is going to do everything to try and be ready.

“In Holland, we always said we cannot say anything about injuries. Maybe that is different here! It is to do with privacy.”

Jones did not feature in the Ipswich Town match during the opening weekend of the Premier League season and also missed several training sessions this week. His return date is still uncertain.

The 23-year-old England youth international, who was included in the provisional senior national team squad for this summer’s European Championship, might return after the September international break if he doesn’t play at Old Trafford.

Liverpool face Nottingham Forest on September 15, followed by a home game against Bournemouth at Anfield the following week.

Thought

Jones just needs a stroke of luck to elevate his career to the next level. The key obstacle to his progress is maintaining consistency.

For Liverpool, it’s equally important to keep as many players healthy as possible, especially considering the limited squad that Slot has at his disposal.
