“Always Good”: Arne Slot Confirms He’s Called Up Liverpool Youngster to First-team Training Permanently

Liverpool have been actively offloading several promising young talents during this summer’s transfer window.

The club have managed to secure a substantial amount of revenue this off-season, though none of it has been reinvested in the squad as of yet.

On Thursday, Liverpool completed two more player sales: Bobby Clark’s transfer to RB Salzburg and Sepp van den Berg’s move to Brentford. These deals brought in about £35 million.

Additional exits could follow, with Tyler Morton likely to be sold. This underscores the success of the academy in producing high-caliber players.

While one objective of the academy is to generate funds for the club, an equally important goal is to develop players who can contribute to the first team. Fortunately, this is also being accomplished.

Arne Slot Confirms Trey Nyoni’s First-Team Status

Throughout the summer transfer window, there has been significant demand for Liverpool to acquire a top-tier, deep-lying midfielder.

Liverpool made an attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi, but after the Spaniard declined, it became apparent that Liverpool had no backup plan to Zubimendi.

One factor contributing to this situation is the impression Trey Nyoni, a 17-year-old who joined from Leicester City last year, made on manager Arne Slot.

Nyoni excelled during pre-season, seemingly surpassing players like Morton and even Stefan Bajcetic in the pecking order.

With Morton likely to be sold and Bajcetic expected to go out on loan, Nyoni appears set to become a part of Slot’s senior team.

In response to questions during his pre-Brentford press conference on Friday about concerns regarding Liverpool’s decision to let go of too many young players, Slot highlighted Nyoni as an example of the opposite scenario.

“The squad we have has a lot of homegrown players,” the Dutchman asserted. “One of them, Trey Nyoni, is also training with us on a daily basis. But he’s only 17.

“This club will always bring good youngsters and it’s always a challenge to find the right moment to play them, or if they’ve played quite a lot of minutes they want to make the next step in their career,” Slot added.

“If that is not possible then it’s the best for them and also for the club to let them go.”

Nyoni has already made his official debut for Liverpool, having featured as a substitute in a match against Southampton last season.

After that game, Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for Nyoni, highlighting the immense potential that the former Leicester City talent possesses. It’s evident that the youngster could develop into an exceptional player.

However, Liverpool should manage their expectations regarding Nyoni. He still has a significant journey ahead before he can be considered a reliable option for Slot.

At present, several players are still ahead of him in the squad hierarchy, making it unlikely that we will see Trey in action until Liverpool’s Carabao Cup campaign kicks off in September.

As Liverpool look to defend the trophy they secured last season, Nyoni may have the opportunity to play a role in those matches. Until then, his focus will remain on learning and growing alongside the senior players in Liverpool’s squad.
