Liverpool Could Repeat Dominic Solanke Success with Details of Another Potential Transfer Revealed by Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool will benefit from Dominic Solanke’s £65m transfer to Tottenham, as they are set to receive a substantial sum from the sell-on fee negotiated when they sold him to Bournemouth in 2019 (Sky Sports).

Another potential transfer involving a forward moving to a London club might also showcase Liverpool’s transfer savvy, with Fabrizio Romano providing updates on X on Saturday night.

The Italian posted: “Understand Brentford have booked first part of medical on Sunday and second on Monday for Fábio Carvalho. £20m fixed fee, £7.5m add-ons, 17.5% sell-on clause to Liverpool as expected.”

Carvalho seemed to be positioning himself for a first-team role at Liverpool after a standout performance on the pre-season tour in the USA.

However, his impressive displays caught Brentford’s attention, leading to an opportunity for Liverpool to profit while his value was high.

Securing up to £27.5m for a player who made only 21 appearances for us is undoubtedly shrewd business.

This is especially true given the potential additional revenue from the sell-on clause, even though it would have been interesting to see how the 21-year-old would have fared over a full season if Arne Slot had kept him.

The proposed transfer, which will bring the former Fulham player back to west London, echoes the scenario of Solanke’s departure from Liverpool five years ago.

Solanke, a forward who struggled to secure a regular spot at Anfield, appeared just 27 times before Liverpool sold him to Bournemouth for £19 million.

With a 20% sell-on clause included in his move to Tottenham, which could result in Bournemouth making a £46 million profit, Liverpool could potentially receive an additional £9.2 million, according to The Athletic.

While the now 26-year-old Solanke flourished at the Vitality Stadium and later secured a lucrative move to Spurs, Liverpool’s decision to sell him for a substantial sum was undoubtedly a strategic success, considering his limited playing time at the club.

Similarly, Carvalho’s impending transfer, contingent on the successful completion of his medical, is expected to benefit Liverpool financially.

Should Brentford later sell Carvalho at a profit, Liverpool could see further financial gain in the future.
