Man United Legend Names the Two Signings Liverpool Need to Make Them a “Really Good” Team This Summer
Liverpool are poised to make their first signing under new manager Arne Slot after what has been a notably quiet transfer window to this point.
The club have shown interest in Martin Zubimendi, and discussions are underway to secure the Real Sociedad midfielder.
It appears that the new Liverpool manager is diligently working with the club’s decision-makers at Anfield to finalize this deal.
There is a strong sense of confidence among Liverpool players under Slot’s leadership, with the Dutch coach having made a positive start at his new role.
The team has returned to Merseyside following a successful pre-season tour of the USA, which provided many players with valuable playing time.
Paul Scholes Names Two Signings Liverpool Need to Make
However, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes thinks that two areas still require improvement to elevate the team to the next level.
“I think Liverpool are alright,” Scholes said on The Overlap. “I don’t think Liverpool are far off.
“Okay, the manager is a bit different from Jurgen Klopp but they were up there for quite a bit of last season and they just fell away the last few games.
“I’d say a holding midfield player away from being a really good team and possibly a centre-back.”
Securing Zubimendi’s services would represent a significant achievement for Slot and the newly established recruitment team at Anfield.
His addition would address the midfield challenges, potentially elevating the performances of players like Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Liverpool’s departure of Thiago Alcantara earlier this summer has left a gap, and some fans remain unconvinced by Wataru Endo.
Endo appears to be a temporary solution under Klopp, and although he need not be moved on this summer, finding a more dependable replacement is advisable.
Additionally, with Joel Matip also having left alongside Thiago, Slot may be looking to acquire a new centre-back this summer.
