Mikel Arteta Shares His Thought on Liverpool Under Arne Slot Compared to Jurgen Klopp After Pre-season Defeat
Mikel Arteta expressed his admiration following his initial encounter with Liverpool under the management of Arne Slot. Liverpool emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Arteta’s Arsenal in Philadelphia.
Arteta praised Liverpool after his Arsenal team suffered a defeat in their first match against the Reds under Slot’s leadership. Liverpool continued their successful tour of the United States, securing their second win with a 2-1 result in Philadelphia.

Arsenal did pose a threat and managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Kai Havertz before halftime.
Despite increasing their pressure in the second half, Liverpool managed to defend resolutely, granting Slot a significant early triumph over one of his major competitors in his new role.
Slot will likely be pleased with his team’s performance, particularly in attack, despite several key players still being absent from training.
Arteta fielded a relatively strong starting lineup, featuring Gabriel, Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Jesus.
Nonetheless, Liverpool managed to set an early benchmark for the upcoming season, which is now just a few weeks away.
Commenting on Liverpool after playing them for the first time without Jurgen Klopp in charge, Arteta said:
“They (Liverpool) are a team that are looking good, that is clear, with ideas they are looking to implement. Every coach has their touch and characteristics that make the team’s style of play. You can see what he (Slot) is doing.”
Asked whether he thinks Liverpool will be good under Slot, Arteta added: “I think so. We all have to start competing and earning our right to show how good we are.
“But the team’s looking good. With the games I’ve seen in preseason, it’s clear what he’s been trying to implement. It was a tough game for us.”
