Arne Slot Drops Honest Verdict on What Really Displeases Him in Liverpool’s Victory Over Arsenal

Liverpool secured a 2-1 win over Arsenal during their pre-season tour in the USA.

Arne Slot stated that he was more impressed with Liverpool’s performance in the second half than in the first during their pre-season triumph against Arsenal.

The Reds emerged victorious against their Premier League opponents with a 2-1 scoreline in Philadelphia as part of their American tour.

Mo Salah scored the opening goal for Liverpool in the 13th minute, and Fabio Carvalho extended their lead with a goal in the 34th minute.

Arsenal equalised just before halftime when Kai Havertz scored. In the second half, which resembled a typical friendly match, Arsenal controlled possession more but struggled to create significant opportunities, even as Liverpool made numerous changes.

Slot was generally satisfied with Liverpool’s performance, particularly their ability to withstand pressure, but he was disappointed with how they allowed the goal.

In an interview with LFCTV, the head coach shared his thoughts on what he found most gratifying about the match.

“Maybe the second half where we had a lot of problems with Arsenal because they were constantly all over us but we defended really strong, kept them away.

“I don’t think they had many chances. that was a positive thing because you’ll always have difficult times in a game but if you fight like this and have so many bodies behind the ball, defending in front of goal was really good.

“We all enjoyed the first half after the first 10 minutes. It was fine to see us create so many chances against a strong opponent like Arsenal. Honestly, they had a few in the first half.

“The first half was quite equal after the first 10 minutes because we started really poor. They did what we intended to do, they played every ball in the last line but after that both teams had a lot of chances and it was good we scored to.

“What I didn’t like was conceding from a second phase of a set-piece. The game [being] 2-0 up at half-time is much different than conceding one out of a set-piece.”
