“Already Decided” – Ben Jacobs Drops Relief Update Involving Arne Slot and Liverpool Star
Liverpool fans may have experienced some anxiety earlier this week due to reports suggesting that Trent Alexander-Arnold might be considering a move to Real Madrid, with the LaLiga champions reportedly making contact.
Christian Falk’s claims were followed by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, who noted on Thursday that Jude Bellingham, a close friend of the 25-year-old, might influence him to relocate to the Spanish capital next year.
However, Ben Jacobs offered reassurance to Reds supporters in an interview with GIVEMESPORT, stating that the vice-captain is set to have discussions with Arne Slot, who already has plans on how to incorporate Alexander-Arnold into his preferred starting lineup.
The journalist outlined: “Trent Alexander-Arnold will hold talks with Arne Slot. The Liverpool manager has already decided on where he will play and wants to make him part of the players’ leadership team, which will help with any new deal discussions.
“Slot is expected to share more details about Trent’s role after they have spoken face-to-face, but has remained coy for now.
“Liverpool are calm despite Real Madrid’s interest. They are not planning for an Alexander-Arnold exit, and Real are not actively working on a transfer at this stage.”
After a week of varied updates regarding Trent, it can be difficult to accurately gauge his current status with Liverpool.
Jacobs states that Slot intends to maintain the 25-year-old in the leadership group established by Jurgen Klopp. The two will have in-depth discussions once the England international returns from his post-Euro 2024 holiday.
Some supporters might fear an exit as Trent enters the final 12 months of his current contract, with these worries heightened by Bellingham’s potential interference.
However, there should be ample time to resolve this situation before the end of the year.
With many of Liverpool’s other leaders such as Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, and Alisson Becker now in their 30s, the new head coach will likely rely on Trent to become the team’s driving force in the long term.
Trent is expected to return from his break in early August and speak with Slot. Hopefully, they will soon reach an agreement that will see number 66 commit to his boyhood club for a few more years.
