Arne Slot Reveals Exactly What Aaron Briggs Will Play for Liverpool
Arne Slot has discussed the important role that Aaron Briggs, the new first team individual development coach, will play for Liverpool.
The Reds underwent several staff changes at the end of last season, with former manager Jurgen Klopp being a notable departure. Klopp’s assistants, Peter Krawietz and Pep Lijnders, also left, along with elite development coach Vitor Matos.
Aaron Briggs has been appointed to assume Matos’ duties at Liverpool. Other new additions to the coaching team include Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters, and Fabian Otte.
Briggs brings an impressive background, having advanced through the ranks at Manchester City. His most recent position was as assistant manager to Niko Kovac at Wolfsburg.
While the role of ‘first team individual development coach’ might seem self-explanatory, Slot has provided insights into what Briggs will contribute to the team and the expectations placed upon him at Liverpool.
In an interview with LFCTV GO, Slot was questioned about the role Briggs will play within the Liverpool organization.
The Dutch coach replied: “I don’t know if it’s the exact right words to use in English but he is most importantly finding the bridge between the youth academy and the first team.
“[He will] be doing a lot of one-on-one meetings with the players as well and of course help us during the training sessions.
“So, he’s just a member of out staff maybe a bit more focused on the players that are in between the under-21s and the first team, but he has an analyst background as well as being an assistant coach.
“We’re going to use him in every department.”
During his tenure at Manchester City, Briggs took on various responsibilities, notably serving as a senior first team performance analyst.
In 2020, he transitioned to Monaco, where he held roles as an analyst, assistant coach, and head of football methodology, showcasing his extensive expertise.
He joins a team with a remarkable academy brimming with talent, and his role will involve aiding young players in their transition to the first team.
