“Extremely Exhausted” – National Media React to Liverpool Star’s International Display

Arne Slot will be looking forward to Liverpool’s international players returning in top form for the new season, though one has been reported as “extremely exhausted” by their country’s media.

Liverpool began their preparations for the 2024-25 Premier League season at their Kirkby training ground earlier this month.

Only eight players were present on the first day of training, as the club’s international players were scheduled to join later, depending on their involvement in summer tournaments.

Four Liverpool players participated in the Euro 2024 and Copa America finals. Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold’s England and Luis Diaz’s Colombia were defeated, while Alexis Mac Allister’s Argentina triumphed.

Mac Allister, who joined Liverpool as a World Cup winner, will now return as a Copa America champion.

However, Argentine media have suggested that he might need a longer break due to his condition observed in the final.

How Argentine Media Reacted to Alexis Mac Allister Performance at Copa America

Argentina secured the Copa America title early Monday morning with a 1-0 victory over Colombia at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Mac Allister, starting on the left for Argentina, played the entire 90 minutes as both teams struggled to score.

He stayed on the field at the beginning of extra time but was substituted by Leandro Paredes in the 97th minute.

Argentine publication TyC Sports rated Mac Allister the lowest among his teammates, indicating he appeared fatigued during the match.

“Alexis was extremely exhausted. He tried to be the main player after Messi’s first injury. He almost scored with a header,” they wrote.

Following an outstanding debut season at Anfield, Mac Allister aims to sustain his performance levels under Slot.

His confidence should remain high after another excellent summer with his national team, though it appears a long break might be necessary for him to recharge.

Last season, he made 46 appearances for the Reds across all competitions and started all but one of Argentina’s Copa America matches.
