Liverpool Handed Spaniard Transfer Ultimatum With Richard Hughes Given Extra Time to Complete Deal

Liverpool are among many clubs that have taken notice of the Spaniard’s impressive performance at Euro 2024.

Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring Spain star Dani Olmo, whose impressive performances at Euro 2024 have garnered significant attention.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for Spain in the tournament, with Luis de la Fuente’s team set to face England in Sunday’s final. Olmo’s contract with RB Leipzig includes a £50 million release clause, allowing negotiations to begin if a club wishes to pursue a transfer.

Initially set to expire on Monday, the release clause has reportedly been extended to July 20, six days after Spain’s final match against England.

Both Premier League and La Liga clubs have expressed interest to his representatives, aware that delaying action could increase Olmo’s price by an additional £20 million.

Arne Slot’s team has yet to make a signing this summer and may consider advancing negotiations for a deal.

As reported by The Mirror, several clubs are expressing interest in the RB Leipzig star, who recently scored in his national team’s 2-1 win over France.

Olmo scored eight goals and made five assists in Germany last season, having come through the famous La Masia academy at Barcelona.

The report also mentions that Liverpool are not expected to seek the forward, despite some claims from Spain. Olmo has recently signed a new long-term contract with Leipzig, which lasts until the summer of 2027.

This extension could allow the Bundesliga club to increase his price once the release clause expires.

“I am calm and focused on what is coming, which is the Euro, which is no small thing,” he said in a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo.

“It is clear that it is good to see your name related to great teams in Europe and the world, that motivates me, but I am focused on the Euro and I hope we can return with the trophy.
