Trent Alexander-Arnold Names the Best Finisher in the England Squad as He Criticises Fans Who Want Him Dropped
Trent Alexander-Arnold has criticised England fans calling for Harry Kane to be dropped, asserting that Kane is the best finisher he has ever played with, even more so than Mo Salah.
Alexander-Arnold believes it would be foolish for England to drop Kane for the semi-final match against Holland on Wednesday, July 9.
Gareth Southgate is under increasing pressure from critics to drop his captain ahead of the game against the Dutch in Dortmund.
Kane has struggled with form and fitness throughout Euro 2024 and was substituted before the shootout victory over Switzerland in the previous round.
Alexander-Arnold believes that any team in the world would be pleased to see England face a major match without Kane leading their attack.
He claimed that Kane is the best finisher he has ever played with, even considering his years alongside Mo Salah at Liverpool.
He said: “Anyone who is facing England would like to see Harry Kane not playing. You just know he is a threat. Anything in and around the box, you need to be on red alert, because he can finish it from any angle.
“I always say he is the best finisher I have either seen or played with. He can find the back of the net from anywhere.
“All round, he’s a fantastic player. We are talking about England’s record goalscorer, so that is as big as anything you can say about him.
“He scores goals. He’s scored two in the tournament, helped us win games and then as our captain, as our leader, he is someone who leads by example.
“He puts everything into games, so whether or not he is getting criticised, people will always have opinions and people will always say things. But he is leading us into a semi-final on Wednesday, so he must be doing something right.”
