Robertson Replacement: Liverpool Reportedly Overtake Rivals in Race for In-demand Premier League Star
Liverpool are reportedly competing with Chelsea and Manchester City to sign the defender.
Life after Jurgen Klopp has commenced at Liverpool, with new head coach Arne Slot settling in at Anfield.
Joining him is Richard Hughes as the new sporting director. The duo will rapidly work on establishing an effective partnership to strategize and enhance the Reds squad during the transfer market.
One focus area is left-back, as the club seek a long-term successor for the 30-year-old Andrew Robertson.
Kostas Tsimikas has been serving as the backup for the Scotland captain, with Joe Gomez also occasionally filling in at left-back.
However, the club are reportedly looking to replace Tsimikas, and Gomez’s versatility means he might be needed in other positions.
Liverpool’s search for a new left-back has brought them to Wolves’ defender Rayan Ait-Nouri. According to Algerian journalist Abdel Hamed, Liverpool have now taken the lead among Premier League clubs in the race for the 23-year-old’s signature.
Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in Ait-Nouri, and he has been linked with Manchester United and Arsenal in recent months as his reputation continues to grow.

Although he wouldn’t come cheap, with Wolves’ asking price reportedly rising to £38 million due to increasing interest, if the club views him as Robertson’s long-term replacement, now would be the opportune time to buy him and start the transition from the Scot to the young Algerian.
Ait-Nouri is valued at €35 million by Transfermarkt.
