Liverpool Star Hints at Potential Retirement After Crashing Out of UEFA Euro 2024

Liverpool star Andrew Robertson will head home early this summer after Scotland’s elimination from the 2024 Euros.

Scotland finished at the bottom of their group, with two losses and one draw out of their three games. It was a challenging tournament for both Scotland and Robertson.

Scotland’s hopes were dashed by Hungary, who secured a 1-0 victory in a crucial match for both teams.

Following the game, the Liverpool player hinted at potential retirement during a media interview. Here’s what Robertson had to say about the situation (h/t Liverpool Echo).

“That’s what we have to hope in the future but tonight, and for a long time, we have to get over this unfortunately. It’s a tough one.

“With international football, sometimes you lose players and things like that. We’ll see what happens with that.”

Robertson remarked that tonight’s loss was devastating not only for him but also for the players.

He mentioned that everyone on the team was deeply disappointed. While Scotland will begin to recover, Robertson noted that it will be a slow and lengthy process.

Before concluding his statement, Andrew thanked the fans, expressing his gratitude for their consistent support at every game.

He also apologized to the fans for the disappointment. Surely, the fans will appreciate the tremendous effort put in by the players.

Hopefully, Scotland will be back competing when the next Euros come around. However, there is no certainty whether Robertson will be part of that team.

It will be interesting to see what choice Robertson makes about his international career.

It would be unfortunate to see him retire from playing for his country. As Scotland heads home, Dominik Szoboszlai and Hungary will be moving on to the next round.
